The main objective was to reach out to our students sitting for their 2013 GCE ‘O” Level Math exam to have an opportunity to clarify their last minute queries and introduce group learning to understand and solve Maths questions effectively.

Considering the challenges a student goes through with a major examination in Singapore, the trainers also applied techniques to motivate and energise the students.

As the first educational workshop to be organised by KA, 40 students were targeted for this workshop. The organising committee was more than encouraged with an attendance of more than 80% of that target number when 33 students attended the full day workshop.

The Maths workshop was conducted by Mr Aman who has more than 27 years of experience in teaching. He is currently an associate lecturer with Singapore Institute of Management and also an Academic Associate with Republic Polytechnic. He was assisted by Mr Zafar, a qualified corporate training facilitator with more than 14 years of training experience in leadership, management and motivational courses. He has been endorsed by Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to conduct WSQ courses with his Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment.

To reach out to the parents, a two hour forum was also organised to discuss and share on the topic “Our Children’s Education – Our future”. Mr Zafar was the moderator for the forum. The session was engaging and thought provoking. The forum challenged the parents to become buddies with their children to encourage and motivate them rather than to simply put pressure on them to perform well in their examinations.

Lunch and tea-breaks were provided to fuel energy for the students and parents for the long day.

From the positive and appreciative expressions portrayed by the students and parents at the end of the 1-Day workshop and forum, KA believes that the event has met its objectives. The success of this event has given the Association and the organising committee much boost to continue this revision workshop on an annual basis to reach more students not only for GCE “O’ Levels but also for other major exams in Singapore.

KA takes this opportunity to thank all the parents, students and also our kind sponsors for supporting this event.
